This is Me

Today I went to Minute Maid Park to watch the Houston Astros. A couple of observations:

In the corner of the stadium they had listings from the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). The listings they had were the prices for Natural Gas, Heating Oil, and Crude Oil. At Shea Stadium (where the NY Mets play), they had a stock ticker on a scoreboard, in Houston they have gas and oil prices. What the HECK?????? Don't we go to ballgames to get away from the stress of work and to enjoy our national pastime? Friggin' A!!

During the 7th inning stretch they played "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." However, afterwards they played some Texas pride song.... what in the world is that??? No God Bless America. No repeat of Take me out to the Ballgame. A stinking Texas pride song?? The sick thing was that the whole stadium was singing along. They must really brainwash Texans with their Texas pride thing when kids are really young.

The coolest thing about Minute Maid Park is that they have a retractable roof. The first half of the game was played with the roof closed with the comfort of air conditioning. It was quite nice, and my first time watching a game indoors. Then towards the end of the game, they opened up the roof and allowed the cool wind come into the stadium. Very interesting.. very nice.

All in all, it was a great game. Now I'm actually becoming a little nostalgic about leaving the hot swamp called Houston. I wish I could have developed my friendships here a little more fully... oh well... I'm going back to the bay... nothing to complain about there.
